From the outside, Utopic gives no sign that your door has a smart lock. Semi-smart locks that sit outside and are turned by hand are always exposed to attack: the electronics can be broken off to reach the cylinder. With the Utopic series the device is entirely inside, so it creates no security weakness.
A lock you turn by hand is not a smart lock. A smart lock, like Utopic, performs locking, unlocking and latch retraction with a motor, on your behalf.

Your door unlocks as you arrive.
Geofence technology unlocks your door by itself as you approach home: no app to open, nothing to press. Draw a boundary around your home once and your phone takes care of the rest. As soon as it crosses into the geofence area it starts talking to the lock, so by the time you reach your door it is already unlocked. Arms full of shopping, a child on one hip or rain coming down, you never have to reach for a phone or a key.
Supported on iPhone. Set the app's location permission to "Always". Because the feature relies on GPS, unlocking may be delayed where the signal is weak; waking your phone's screen as you approach usually improves response time.
No keypad on your door? No problem.
Create one-time e-keys in the app and share them with visitors, so they can open your door with the DESi Smart app on their own phones.
Track every activity.
See every lock and unlock with the date, time and user who performed it. With the DESi Smart Bridge (sold separately), see who locked or unlocked your door in real time.
No internet needed to create PINs or e-keys.
When you are not at home, create scheduled user codes in the DESi Smart app and share them with friends, Airbnb guests, repair technicians or your gardener. No internet or connection is needed to create codes, and you can also create one-time codes for a single entry within a set date and time range.
Rechargeable batteries for long battery life.
The rechargeable lithium batteries last 2.5 to 3.5 months per charge, depending on usage. You can use them for years without replacing them, and charge them with the cable in the box. Check battery status anytime in the DESi Smart app; if you forget to charge, you can open your door with your keys.
Automatic locking.
Turn on auto-lock and choose 15, 30 or 45 seconds or 1 minute, with a single turn or a full turn. Utopic R+ locks your door automatically once the time has passed. You can also set days and times when auto-lock is turned off.
Control your door wherever you are.
With the separately sold DESi Smart Bridge, lock or unlock your smart lock over the internet. It also works with Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

Can I still open the door with a key after installing the smart lock?
Yes. You can use your key anytime or in an emergency; just keep a key in your wallet or bag.
Will my door be damaged during installation?
No. You install Utopic R+ just like replacing a cylinder. No extra holes are drilled in your door.
Can the smart lock lock and unlock automatically?
Yes. Utopic series locks perform full-turn locking and unlocking automatically. Just send a command from the app, a fingerprint keypad or a remote control.
Is it compatible with my 3-turn lock?
Yes. During setup the lock learns how many turns are needed to fully lock or unlock your door and saves it in memory.
Does it matter if my door opens left or right?
No. During installation the setup wizard detects the door direction and sets the locking direction accordingly.
How can I get additional keys?
5 keys come in the box. You can have more keys cut at DESi authorised service centres.
How can I know if it fits my door?
If your door has a euro profile cylinder, Utopic R+ is compatible. It is sold with a standard 31-39 cylinder, and thanks to its special structure it can be extended by an extra 10 mm. If your cylinder is longer, you can choose a specially sized cylinder.
Can I use my old cylinder?
No. Utopic R+ can only be used with the special cylinder included in the box.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. Watch the step-by-step videos on our YouTube support channel. If your door sags or rubs, fix that first.
Does it work with multi-point locking doors?
Yes. It is compatible with central multi-point locking systems and has the power to lock and unlock all points.
Does the smart lock retract the latch?
Yes. It can fully open the door by pulling the latch when unlocking.
Can I control the lock remotely?
Yes. With the DESi Smart Bridge (sold separately) you can lock or unlock your door from anywhere.
Can I share access with multiple users?
Yes. Share the lock with up to 37 users in the app and manage their permissions.
What if my phone or the lock battery dies?
You can open your door with your key or other compatible accessories.
How often should I charge it?
Under normal use the battery lasts about 2.5–3.5 months. You can check the charge level in the app.
Can I see who opened the lock?
Yes. Every operation is recorded in the lock, and with the Smart Bridge (sold separately) you can follow it in real time.
Can it be used in very cold or hot weather?
Utopic series locks are designed to operate across a wide temperature range.
Is it water or moisture resistant?
Smart locks are designed for indoor use. Avoid humid or directly water-exposed environments.
Can I move the lock to another door?
Yes, but it may need to be installed and set up again for the new door.
Is it suitable for businesses?
Yes. It is also suitable for offices and workplaces and provides secure access management.
Can I give access to specific people only?
Yes. Choose who can use your lock in the app, including temporary access within a set date or time range.
Are smart locks vulnerable to hacking?
Utopic smart locks are protected with current encryption protocols and security standards.
Can I give guests temporary access?
Yes. Define access for guests within a specific day or time range and cancel it later.
How long does installation take?
Usually 1–5 minutes. The lock comes with an easy guide and all necessary accessories.
Does it lock the door automatically after a while?
Yes. With the timer you can lock the door automatically after a set time, in case it is left open by accident.
Does it need a constant data connection?
No. It works over Bluetooth at short range without a data connection. Remote control requires the Smart Bridge.
How do I share digital keys?
Share digital keys in the app for a set period or permanently. Sharing is securely encrypted.
Does my door unlock automatically when I get home?
Yes, with geofence. Define a boundary around your home in the app; your phone starts talking to the lock as you enter it and the door unlocks as you get closer. Supported on iPhone; location permission must be set to Always.
